The story
Brindle & Grell is a repair workshop and household-goods shop on Foundry Road in the English city of Merewick. Its counter and rented upstairs room connect eight people who are competent in some areas and disastrously persuasive in others.
What keeps it going
Every character is right about one thing and confidently wrong about the rest — at work, at home, with money and with each other. Stories start at the shop counter and spread across the city.
